Saratoga Springs flourished in the Gilded Age, defined by its mineral springs and grand Victorian architecture. The Canfield Casino, once a high-stakes gambling club, and the Grand Union Hotel's former site exemplify this era's opulence. Notice the many "witch's walk" railings on homes, a quirky architectural feature believed to deter evil spirits. This history underpins the city's modern charm and is one of the best reasons to visit Saratoga Springs.
Saratoga Spa State Park covers over 2,200 acres, offering trails and two public pools fed by mineral water. Beyond the park, Saratoga Lake is a hub for boating and fishing. A local favorite is hiking the trails at the lesser-known Daniels Road State Forest, especially during the vibrant fall foliage season. The Yaddo Gardens also offer a serene, European-inspired escape.
The city's culinary scene extends beyond Broadway's fine dining. A local tradition is getting Hattie's fried chicken, a recipe perfected since 1938. For a true taste of the region, try a doughboy from Esperanto, a unique calzone-like snack. Many locals also enjoy the distinct, slightly salty mineral water directly from the public springs scattered around town.

Great food and shopping
Really enjoyed the small city feel. Found so many great independent shops and art galleries to browse through in the afternoon. The restaurant scene is also quite good for a city this size. Had a great meal just off Caroline Street.
